This is our Milling Machine.
We use it primarily for our custom Head work and the fabrication of
vintage parts. Note: Valve Seats cut with Sunnen tooling. |
We do all of our cylinder
boring & honing in-house. You can also see we have a metal lathe for
fabrication of restoration parts on antique bikes. Notice the Sunnen
LBB-1660, it precision machines tappet blocks, Cylinders, Rods,
Valve Guides, and Panhead rocker boxes. We also use it to line hone
cases. |

Big boring some Shovelhead
cases with our Quick-Way boring bar, don't you love the sound of a
big inch Shovelhead. |

Finishing up on some cylinders. Did you
know that a deviation of 1/3rd the diameter of a human hair can
cause premature ring and piston wear. The maximum tolerances allowed
at our shop is .0002 or 15 times smaller than a human hair. |
Heads getting a work out.
Did you know that more than .002 runout in a valve seat can cause
valve or guide failure. It causes heat buildup and can reduce the
effective pressure a valve can handle by over 4 times. 75% of the
heat is dissipated from the valve seat (concentric seats are a must). We
keep our runout at .0005 or half of a thousandth. |

Restored 45 cases, just like new (or maybe
even better). |
The view of a finely
finished cylinder, how big do you think this bore is? |
